There are three fantastic breweries right here in the Grand Valley, each with its own style and flavors. Each has a brew pub with lunch and dinner menus. You can also take away a half-gallon growler of any current brew. Support our local crafts and drink some delicious beer while you're at it.
My personal favorite is Kannah Creek. Located nearby, on North 12th Street, is famous for wood oven-fired pizzas.
Palisade Brewery is a hidden little gem down a dead end street in Palisade. They distribute their beers in Colorado. This place is great, and the people who work there are very friendly. The outdoor patio is great for viewing the rock formations at the east end of the valley.
The other place, Rockslide Brew Pub, has a full menu of specialties including pizzas, ribs, and even buffalo meatloaf. The thing that would make me recommend it is only a person's interest in microbrews. These guys are the most expensive, and least friendly. Their place is pretty commercial. Go there if you've been to the others and still are curious.
The Breckenridge Brewery's Ale House brews in Breckenridge. Hence, their beer is not available in growlers. They feature unusual blends like agave wheat and vanilla porter, and their food is inventive.
The Palisade Distillery is right next door to the Palisade Brewery. They are makers of artisanal spirits from fresh local fruits, and sweet corn from Olathe. Olathe being a small town about 45 miles south, it is local too, but not as local as the fruit, as their web page will explain.
WIKITRAVEL article on Colorado's wine country, which lists Colorado's wineries, and tells what makes them special. It is worth taking a look at.
